Someone on this site asked me what art hacking is, so I decided I should probably write a journal entry explaining it. So here goes... "Art hacking" is a term I first encountered in 2015 when I was taking an adult education class that more or less focused on that subject. In this class we looked at different tools used to bring art into the Information Age - tools like Arduino, Processing, Inkscape, etc. For some reason I was the only person who signed up for that course, so the whole thing ended up being a one-on-one with me and the instructor. He introduced me to the concept of art hacking, which I will define as follows... Art hacking, at least the way I define it, consists of three related and overlapping activities having to do with digital art: Hacking art - that is, taking image files and dissecting them and manipulating the data in new and creative ways.
